Michelle Barton

Michelle grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona where her fascination with rocks and vast timescales led her to earn a BS in Geology from Northern Arizona University. Her love of the outdoors brought her to Missoula Montana where she completed three terms with the Montana Conservation Corps before becoming the Education Programs Manager at Home ReSource, a sustainability-focused nonprofit. There, she led programs centered on watershed stewardship, which inspired her to deepen her understanding of the hydrologic systems that govern them. She is currently completing her MS in Geoscience at the University of Montana, where she studies new ways of observing climate impacts on groundwater in the Colorado River Basin. When she isn’t working, you can find her drinking coffee and watching mergansers by the river with her husband and two dogs.
